Andréa Vamos experiments with the territory by realizing installations in situ and with the intention of keeping traces through photography.
In search of the memory and the repair of a damaged time, the artist travels through sites where nature and ruins become architecture. Franco-Yugoslav, the artist draws on her roots to try to reconstruct the history of countries that have disappeared or are undergoing radical geographical changes.
Andréa Vamos' installations are designed to be experienced as a journey into the heart of often unexplored territories. The accumulation of visual materials is staged and moved in an ephemeral way in the landscapes that host them. This process of amplification and deformation by the color and the light, blurs the tracks and reveals enigmatic presences, undefined spaces become places-ghost.
This duality between visible and invisible allows the artist to create resurgences, which she seizes and superimposes on the lexicon of photography. This one intervenes then like a setting in abyme having for function to question our distance to the reality. Her installations captured by the lens act as mirrors, sculpting a deserted landscape.
Her photographic work allows her to manipulate time and space. The artist assembles, assimilates, repeats and reconstructs in order to develop archive images and cartographies of the present and ephemeral moment.
Sort of metaphors in situ, the artist installs her work in physical as well as psychic spaces. Her works draw attention to the growing phenomenon of the shrinking of space, both geographically and in terms of our actions and freedoms.
Whether in photographs or installations, Andréa Vamos' work is a testament to our attachment to space. By deconstructing the relationship to borders and exploring potential common heritages, Andréa Vamos' works establish a complex of ramifications tending to constitute an absolute History. She gives to see the contextual effects of a narrative which are treated in turn as research tools, works of art or elements of decoration in order to break with the amnesia of a time which however passes and transforms.

Andréa Vamos expérimente le territoire en y réalisant des installations in situ et avec l’intention d’en garder des traces grâce à la photographie.
A la recherche du souvenir et de la réparation d’un temps endommagé, l’artiste parcourt des sites où nature et ruines font figure d’architecture. Franco-yougoslave, l'artiste puise dans ses racines pour tenter de reconstruire l’histoire de pays disparus ou en mutations géographiques radicales.
Les installations d’Andréa Vamos sont pensées pour être vécues comme un voyage au cœur de territoires souvent inexplorés. L’accumulation de matériaux visuels est mise en scène et en mouvement de manière éphémère dans les paysages qui les accueillent. Ce procédé d’amplification et de déformation par la couleur et la lumière, brouille les pistes et révèle des présences énigmatiques, des espaces indéfinis devenus lieux-fantôme.
Cette dualité entre visible et invisible permet à l'artiste de créer des résurgences, qu’elle saisit et superpose au lexique de la photographie. Celle-ci intervient alors comme une mise en abyme ayant pour fonction d’interroger notre distance à la réalité.
